Be Prepared For It
Privacy policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This policy explains what we collect, why, and which outside services run on this site. We don't sell your email address or your purchase details.
Email signups
When you join our list or ask for a free printable, we collect your email address and store it with our email provider (SendFox) so we can send you what you asked for. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time, and that removes you from the list. To keep bots off our forms, signup forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile (see below). If you tick the box for our monthly email, Ready This Month, or sign up for it directly, we ask you to confirm by email and then add you to a separate monthly list. We only send it to people who asked, and you can unsubscribe from it at any time.
Purchases
The Family Emergency Binder is sold through Stripe. You pay on Stripe's own checkout page, so we never see or store your card number. After a completed payment, Stripe sends us your email address and name. We add them to SendFox so we can email you your download link.
Analytics and cookies
We use these tools to learn which pages are useful and how people move through the site, including whether a visit leads to a signup, a click on a buy button, or a click on an affiliate link:
- Google Analytics. Runs on every page. It records page views and the events above, and sets cookies on your browser.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook). Runs on most pages. It tells Meta when you view a page, join the email list, click a buy button, or click an affiliate link, so we can measure and improve how the site performs on Meta's platforms. Meta may use that information under its own privacy policy.
- PostHog. Records page views, clicks, how far down a page you scroll, and signup and pop-up events, so we can see which pages and offers work.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, measures traffic to the site.
These tools can set cookies or use your browser's local storage so they can tell a returning visitor from a new one. They also receive your IP address and browser details, as any site you load does. There is no on-site switch to turn them off yet. Your browser's tracking protection or a content blocker will stop them.
Other services that load on the site
- Cloudflare. Hosts the site and runs Turnstile, a bot check that loads on pages with a signup form or pop-up. Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details to do this.
- Google Fonts. The site's fonts load from Google, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
The site also saves a few small settings in your browser's local storage, such as whether you closed the announcement bar, the sticky bar, or the signup pop-up, and whether you already joined. That way we don't keep showing them to you.
Affiliate links
Some links are affiliate links, mostly to Amazon (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click one, Amazon or another partner may set its own cookies to credit us for a purchase. Those cookies belong to the partner, not to us, and you can control them in your browser settings.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from emails, block cookies and trackers in your browser, and ask us what we hold about you. To make a request, use the contact page.
